Oct. 18- 1 hr
One thing that Mary and I discussed was that some of my students would really benefit with knowing how to use the catalog. One of my students in particular always attempts to use the computer but then doesn't know what to do once he found a book on the computer. On Oct. 13 I stayed after school to work on a document to keep at the catalog computers that would give students directions of how to search for a book they are interested in and then where to find it in the library after they have found it in their search. I used the print screen to show several of the examples of what the page would look like if they typed in certain things and where to find the call number and whether it is checked in or out.
On Oct. 18, I brought my class into the library to show them how to search for books they are interested in. I showed them how to do a keyword search, author search, series search, or title search. I then showed them how to look for the call number and then where they would go in the library based on what it says.
Since I have shown them how to use the catalog system, they all want to use the computer to look for a book.
