Oct. 5 & 6- 2 hours
Lester Laminack the author of Saturdays and Teacakes came for a visit at Mt. Ulla on Oct. 6. He visit a Rowan county school about every year to meet with a grade level to give writing strategies to teachers and students. On Oct. 5 I met with our librarian and curriculum coach to set up for his visit. I helped Kristen (curriculum coach) hang welcome signs for him. I helped moved tables and chairs in the library for seating for the visiting teachers and the students.
After his visit, he left a list of authors and books that are his favorites. I searched for these books in our catalog. The authors he likes are Jacqueline Woodson, Patricia Maclachlan, and Cynthia Rylant. I collected several of the books written by all these authors and placed them around the library.
